The Museum of Southern History showcases the history of the South during the mid-1800s. Visitors to the museum can view room settings, cases, and dioramas to view clothing, fine furnishings, uniforms, tools, and weapons that help convey a sense of those who settled in the Houston region and how they rebuilt their lives after the Civil War.

You’ll get to see a replica of a Victorian-era Southern dining room, a lady’s bedroom from the period, a room showcasing weapons of the era and more.

The Museum of Southern History is now located at the Morris Cultural Arts Center on the campus of Houston Baptist University along with the the Museum of American Architecture and Decorative Arts and the Dunham Bible Museum.

The museum requests a nominal admissions fee. Guided tours take approximately 30-45 minutes. There is also an on-site gift shop with many pieces relating to Southern history.
