Chinatown is home to a “DIY” teppan style, Japanese restaurant called Pepper Lunch. Meals at Pepper Lunch come out piping hot on iron plates so you can “sizzle it your way.”
The Bellaire Food Street location is Pepper Lunch’s first in Texas, but they have more than 300 locations worldwide. The iron plates allow guests to experience the cooking of their food first-hand and the restaurant also has tableside sauces like garlic soy sauce and sweet sauce for guests to spice up their dishes to their personal tastes. Popular dishes include kimchi beef with cheese pepper rice and the pepper salad among other steaks, pasta range, sizzling curry, and pepper rice dishes.
The small, bustling space is, of course, designed to replicate Japanese interior design. The hot spot offers counter service and tablet ordering available. The self-order features allows guests to customize dishes even further, so picky eaters can rejoice!
