The Rice Box started off as a wildly popular food truck appealing to the Montrose nightlife scene and University of Houston students for lunch. But in recent years, owner John Peterson put down roots with a brick-and-mortar location in Upper Kirby’s Greenway Plaza food court and in 2017, expanded again with a Chinese takeaway bar in The Heights.
At his newest location, Peterson offers made-to-order classics to-go, although there is a small amount of dine-in seating offered at the counter and on the adjacent patio—a prime place to enjoy a range of craft beers and infused teas. On the menu, find savory picks like the chow fun with shrimp and Chinese sausage, sesame chicken and Mongolian cauliflower.
Rice Box is open for lunch and dinner, daily.
