Things To Do Downtown
Back to Downtown page.
Located in the heart of downtown, is Houston’s own Central Park: Discovery Green, a 12-acre park with activities galore. This grassy oasis showcases art installations, playground, a skating rink and even a tranquil pond for canoeing. Nearby, is Avenida Houston, a boulevard that offers thrilling art, bars and restaurants like Kulture, an urban comfort kitchen serving Caribbean-Southern cuisine.
Why not take in a little culture at Theater District Houston. The area is chock full of award-winning theaters including the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, Alley Theatre and Wortham Theater. Plus, many of these theaters are close to the Buffalo Bayou Cistern, an underground chamber that now houses art and a dazzling light show.
When the sun goes down, the party really begins. Take the MetroRAIL up and down Main Street and bar hop to places like The Cottonmouth Club and Mongoose Versus Cobra. There is also Market Square where you can sip on cocktails at the mezcaleria Pastry War, Tongue-Cut Sparrow and OKRA.
