Downtown Houston has it all. Whether you’re looking for amazing eats, the latest plays, intimate live venues or a good drink, we certainly suggest heading Downtown. While typically viewed as Houston’s center of commerce and business, the Downtown area is great for business people, tourists and Houstonians alike and has lots to offer everyone. Plus, if you’re visiting on the weekdays, you can explore the ultra-cool 7.5-mile-long Downtown Tunnels System that links office buildings with restaurants and small shops throughout.

Come to Finn Hall hungry. This fabulous food hall features nine independent food stalls with an elevated bar at the center of the hall. Your culinary wish is Finn Hall’s command, as there are cuisines ranging from American to Vietnamese, tacos, fried chicken, Italian, crêpes and more. No matter the time of day you can either get your caffeine fix or a cocktail. Finn Hall has Greenway Coffee that focuses on sourcing high-quality coffee from small producers; open until 2:30 p.m. Then, for that much-needed afternoon libation, Swallow’s Nest is the perfect place to unwind and imbibe. Finn Hall is a one-stop shop for delicious H-Town eats.

Treebeards

A Houston staple due to its two Downtown locations is Treebeards. Sometimes you just need Southern comfort food and Treebeards has all of the iconic smothered, fried, and savory dishes. Red beans and rice, shrimp etouffee, seafood gumbo, meatloaf, jambalaya and more are available. Fair warning, you might need a nap after these ultra-decadent dishes. Treebeards locations include the tunnels, specifically Pennzoil Place, and another location at The Cloisters of Christ Church Cathedral further east.

Bayou Music Center

Known for its incredible sightlines and superior sound system, a concert or special event at Bayou Music Center is not to be missed. Truly one of the most intimate venues in Houston with big-name performers, Bayou Music Center is a local gem. Everyone from Dave Chappelle to Coldplay to Sting has played this theatre. You can stand on the floor or sit in the upper levels and we have no doubt you’ll enjoy the experience. There are even premium seating options that offer the comfort of an elevated couch and coffee table, which sounds like the ultimate concert luxury. Check the lineup, grab your tickets and enjoy the show.

The Tipping Point

When thinking about The Tipping Point, the first thing that comes to mind is exclusivity. The Tipping Point prides itself in being Houston's first and only creative lifestyle destination: curating a select collection of limited-edition footwear, books, art, apparel, music and accessories. The inventory is not your typical ready-to-wear store, it’s interesting, fresh and full of sourced finds that are the perfect way to treat yourself. Plus, there’s an in-house coffee bar making this shopping trip more of an experience. One of our favorite things about The Tipping Point is that it works with local non-profit organizations and small businesses to create a springboard for creativity and innovation through its different events and campaigns.

True Anomaly Brewing Company

So, four guys walk into a garage…sort of. True Anomaly Brewing Co. Started with four guys, a garage, brewing equipment and a passion to hone their beer-making craft. Thus was the beginning of True Anomaly Brewing Co. After hundreds of test batches, the guys’ shared fascination with science, outer space, energy, history, and love of Houston, lead to the creation of original and delicious beers. The ever-changing drafts often include Scout lager, Juno-1 helles, Rocket Park pale ale, Skylab IPA or the Beryl sour ale. There’s also a bottles selection with the CMDR Wonderlic Belgian golden ale, Wooden Bird or Friendship 7 farmhouse ales. Seeing a theme? These choices are truly out of this world and always rotating based on what’s fresh out of the tap.
